OGG Annual Picnic

Black Oak Pavillion, Kinder Farm Park, 1001 Kinder Farm Park Rd., Millersville, Maryland

Each year, OGG replaces one Monday meeting with a picnic, where we can all get to know each other better. We grill hot dogs and hamburgers and each member brings a side dish or dessert. We hope all our members will attend, and bring a plus one if you wish.

3rd Monday 'Search Party' featured during our regular meeting

O'Malley Senior Center Annex, 1270 Odenton Road, Odenton, Maryland

Starting in February, our meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month will include a new “Search Party” segment. Members can submit genealogy questions ahead of time, and we’ll walk through possible sources and search strategies together. All experience levels are welcome. Even if we can’t fully answer a question during the meeting, we’ll help identify useful next steps. We look forward to learning and discovering as a group!

2nd Monday 'Morey's Corner' featured during our regular meeting

O'Malley Senior Center Annex, 1270 Odenton Rd., Odenton, Maryland

On the second Monday of each month, the Odenton Genial Genealogists enjoy a special segment called Morey’s Corner. During this time, longtime member Jack Morey selects one or more books from our genealogy library and introduces them to the group. Jack shares what each book offers—its focus, usefulness, and how it can support your family history research. It’s a relaxed and engaging way to discover new resources, learn about research techniques, and make the most of the materials available in our library.

April Meetings

O'Malley Senior Center Annex, 1270 Odenton Road, Odenton, Maryland

Odenton Genial Genealogists meet on Mondays from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. A DNA Discovery meeting is held prior to the genealogy meeting at 12:15.  Our meetings cover a variety of subjects related to genealogy and members are encouraged to share their knowledge and experience. We discuss new features or functionality from the different genealogy sites and personal breakthroughs. For 2026, our members are focused on stories about their families.  Prompts are given for each month and members are encouraged to write their stories and present them in a meeting. The prompts for April are:

1. Holiday Traditions: Easter, Passover, or any other holiday tradition. Who started it? Will it continue through the next generations.

2. April 10th is Siblings Day.  Write, Tell, or Present stories of the goofy things you did with (or to) your siblings, your similarities and your differences.

You can also choose the story to be about any siblings in your family history.

3. Writer's Choice: The monthly 'prompts' may not suit everyone or you may have something else on your mind. You can choose a different topic.
